Watercolor Painting Class with Dwayne Adams: Learning from the Renaissance (Intermediate, June 2024)

This 3-session class (Sundays for three weeks) will look at what we can learn about composition, color, and technique from the Renaissance masters. From that we will see how to create watercolor paintings that feature depth, drama, and mystery, and create a strong sense of place.

DAC’s provided art kit includes:
Introductory set of 12ml 6-paint set.
1" mop brush
Liner brush
#10 round brush
30 sheet pad of cold press 9x12 inch paper
Plastic palette
Backing board
Tape
Water cup
For those who already are watercolor painters, the following is a basic supply list for the class. Students may supplement as they wish:
1-inch wash brush (flat), or #12 or #14 oval wash, #6 or #8 Oval, liner or fine detail brush
For paint: Burnt Sienna, Lemon Yellow, Cobalt Yellow Medium, Cobalt Blue, Pthalo Blue, Yellow Ochre, and Cadmium Red. Students can supplement at their pleasure.
For paper, 140#, Strathmore or Grumbacher are acceptable. For better results, recommend Arches or Fabriano.
Foam core or other backing board
Tape, neutral color, 3/4 or 1 inch.
A water container that holds at least a pint.
