with presenters Alexandra Avery, Margo Goodwill, Susan Killeen, Marcia Zina Mager, & Sabra

Marcia Zina Mager

 Title: WHITE COTTON UNDERWEAR

Description: A scandalous true story about looking deeper at people and discovering something unexpected.

Bio: Marcia Zina Mager is an international author, award-winning poet, playwright, and performer. As The Write Coach, she helps people around the world birth the books they have always dreamed of writing.

Susan Killeen

 Title: MAMA SAID

Description: Her story reminds us that children are impressionable, have long memories, and don’t easily forget.

Bio: Susan Killeen has been writing for 35 years to understand what has happened in her life. Writing can be pleasure or pain, but it is ultimately deeply satisfying.

Margo Goodwill

 Title: LOSING LIFE’S MARBLES

Description: Life is a game we all play, and games can help explain life. This short story is a metaphor for some of life’s little phenomena.

Bio: Born smack in the middle of the 20th century, Margo has been a professional fine artist for over six decades. She has now discovered writing as a new creative adventure. It is a challenge to make pictures with words, as in “I see what you say.”

Alexandra Avery

 Title: FLYING WITH GOD

Description: As a child on Kailua Beach, Alexandra watched and waited for the circus ship that would take her to exotic places. Her stunt pilot dad made her dream come alive by creating a circus in the sky.

Title: THE CHURCH OF NATURE

Description: A story about a giant redwood log that became her childhood sacred space.

Bio: Alexandra knew she wanted to be a writer when her Kainalu Elementary School teacher chose her to read a story she had written to the PTA. She has kept a journal ever since and has taught creative writing at the secondary level. She is currently writing stories about growing up in Territorial Hawai’i, some of which are available on Substack, a free readership.

Sabra

 Title: GOLDEN FISH

Description: A true story about how miracle and magic showed up unexpectedly, just when they were needed most. From her memoir, Barefoot on Oyster Shells: One Woman’s Survival at the Edge of a Map.

Bio: Sabra became an artist as soon as she could hold a crayon. As her life unfolded and she found herself in the wilds of British Columbia, she traded her crayons for a pen to share her many misadventures.
