From the HEART: Where Community Begins
Dear DAC ʻOhana,
In 2020, a dream came to life on the second floor of Chinatown Gateway Plaza, a place where artists, neighbors, kupuna and community could gather, create, and connect.
Since then, Downtown Art Center has grown into a vibrant hub for exhibitions, classes, and cultural events that serve people of all ages and backgrounds. We’ve welcomed emerging Hawai‘i artists, hosted dozens of local arts nonprofits, and helped seniors rediscover purpose through creativity.
Now, as we celebrate five years of exhibitions in our Chinatown home, we invite you to give “From the HEART,” and help us continue building a place where community begins.
Your gift supports:
-Free and low-cost art programs for the community.
-Gallery space for local artists and collectives.
-Outreach to kūpuna, students, and underserved neighborhoods.
-A more vibrant and creative Chinatown.
Let’s keep the dream alive. Let’s keep building, from the heart.
With gratitude,
Sandra Pohl, Executive Director
& the Downtown Art Center team
